NACD President's Award

Bill Wilson in presenting this award established to recognize an individual or organization that has been especially helpful or active in the conservation cause during the President's term stated:

The recipient of this year's President's Award is a behind the scenes kind of person. An individual who has emerged in my first year as President of NACD as a reliable, willing individual who on many occasions, has risen to assist me and other leaders and staff in numerous ways, in a most un-selfish way, traveling without benefit of paid expenses.

This individual is someone who has a vast knowledge base of the history of NACD, and uses that history in a positive way to assist in the progress of the Association. This recipient has a strong personal and professional commitment to the success of this Association and has been a confidant, historian, business advisor, and financial advisor to the staff, officers, and executive board, throughout this year.

A very surprised Joe Lomax receiving the award from Bill Wilson, NACD President.

Some may see this person as an unlikely friend and partner of mine. But this person has tirelessly assisted me through the day to day challenges I have faced. Most of you know my roots are planted deep in rural America. This individual comes from a very different geographic setting. Someone whom is often seen in this Association as an urban individual, I find has a deep understanding of agriculture, and a deep appreciation for the "cause of conservation" both rural and urban. This person understands that we are all partners in this landscape both rural and urban, and is strongly committed to build the strong coalitions necessary to achieve success in the area of natural resource conservation.

I look forward to the day when I can visit Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, the home of my good friend Joe Lomax. Joe, please come forward to accept this token of my personal appreciation for all you have done to help me and NACD this year. Thank you so much.
